Upstanding Young Man

Well, it happened ten years ago today.  Shauna and I had our first child that made our lives so much more rich and awesome.  When I say awesome I mean it in the sense that our son Joaquin is wonderful, smart, talented, loving and kind.  He has taken to soccer very well and loves kicking the ball around.  He is very mechanical and can build with Legos like nobody's business. He enjoys a good book in his free time and loves Diary Of A Wimpy Kid reading just about every one in the series.

I keep pictures of my family in my office and on is the day Joaquin was born.  He looks a little surprised to be out in the world--he has done a marvelous job out in the world and is finding his way around the things that seems to be important, and finding the things that are actually important in this life.

It is great to see him learn and grow and become the young man of which he can be proud.  Happy Birthday Joaquin!  You have a wonderful life ahead of you.  We love you!

One of my favorite pictures.  He does not take naps anymore.

Wow.  So young.

There is a lot going on in this picture--just like his life.

Lagoon

A couple of weeks ago we had a Burton Lumber Lagoon day.  We had the Arvidsons come as well as John and his kids.  It was a little cold because a storm had come through a couple of days before and dropped the temperature.

It was still fun, but still really crowded.  Burton Lumber was kind enough to provide some free tickets and lunch.  The kids were really excited to go.  Joaquin a made a vow last year that he would ride Cannibal this year.  We worked ourselves up to Cannibal after riding several "less" exciting rides.
We got there around 1 pm because Joaquin had a soccer game that morning.  We went straight to lunch and then headed out to some rides.  It was also Frightmares so there were some fun Halloween styled stuff around as well.  Not only that but there were actors dressed up as various scary people.  Ruby was very wary of these people and had a hard time when they came close by.

I was on the Umbrella ride with her when we saw some actors and she started to get scared.  The ride stop with us a the top right over the path the actors were on.  Ruby was scared at first, but then realized she was way up in the air and the monsters could not get her.  There were some pretty freaky actors walking around in some pretty good costumes.  I like Frightmares, but a little warmer like last year is way better.

Mom was out of town this weekend.  You can tell by Ruby's hair.

Joaquin the goalie.

Not sure what is happening here.

USC game.

I will  have to show his friends.

Not a very cute cowgirl.

Awesome faces.

Hope this is not a vision of the future.

This is the Mayer Family blog. This is our attempt to keep a record for ourselves of the happenings of our family. It is also an attempt to make it easier for our family and friends to see pictures and get updates.
