California Spring Break

We got back from California on Sunday evening after having spent a fun week at the Ludwig's house in Cupertino.  The kids love grandma and grandpa because they get the goods when they go to their house.  This is usually okay with us because grandparents should be allowed to spoil their grand kids if they wish.  Well they did get spoiled and they had a blast whilst being spoiled.  Who wouldn't really.

We spent a bunch of time with cousins which the kids love.  They love these California cousins because they are all about the same ages.  Ben, Joaquin and Natalie stick together. Laney and Ann hang out and Ruby and Kate also have become pals.  This is awesome and makes for an even better spring break.  I hope we can continue to foster these relationships.Keeping these important relationship with nana, papa, grandma grandpa, and cousins is very important and we should be mindful of these.  Here are some pictures of our adventures in California.

At the tide pools all the cousins and some other kids that were there put together a "museum" which consisted of objects found on the beach an in the tide pools.  No living animals were captured or made part of the museum, but this did find some cool shell, claws, and skeletons.  Not much different than a bunch of natural history museums I have been to.

All and all a fun time.

Just wanted to give Ruby a happy birthday thumb's up.  She turned three last week and since we were out of town, I was not able to get a post up about this wonderful kid.  Ruby is a funny one and enjoys life thoroughly.  We love her so much and here's wishing you the happiest of birthdays!!

A Few Pictures of Recent Events

Last week Shauna's brother was married up in Park City.  All of us went to the wedding and enjoyed BBQ and Cold Stone ice cream.  The kids had a lot of fun and were able to see some cousins they don't get to see very often.

Very stylish girl.

Happy April Fool's Day

So this year's prank theme was Frozen.  In years past I had kind of defaulted to the cat food in the cereal box, which was one my Mom played on me.  Well, this year I decided that because Frozen is all the rage with the girls I would turn the tables a bit.

After the kids were asleep I took clothes and soaked them in water and then laid them on a cookie sheet with plastic bags in between each piece and then put them in the freezer over night.  The result was exactly what I was looking for.  See the results for yourself.

The joke I played on Shauna was not executed quite the way I wanted it.  Shauna fell asleep early and I snagged her cell phone and wrapped it in three plastic bags with some rice in (just in case the bags leaked) and put her phone in a bowl of water which I then put in the freezer.  The problem was that the phone wanted to float so I had to weigh it down with some kitchen utensils.  When I got up to get it out, I found the water had frozen, but that for some reason a huge air bubble had formed under the phone so it was not frozen in a solid block of ice.  I put the half encased phone on a cookie sheet and put a note next to is that said "Happy April Fool's Day!"

Shauna is always looking for her phone so this was supposed to be an extra special joke, but it came out half baked..I mean frozen.  See the results below.

Anyway I am expecting a little retribution today after work.  We will see what they have cooked up later.

Cool Stuff

I have been digging on this guy Harry Holiday's art since I first saw it on Shawn Stussy's blog.  My personality is much like his art.  I am generally a laid back person with a real honest beach bum vibe in my soul.  I think I would be just fine if I had a shack on some Pacific island where I could hike, swim, and run.  I am sure I am not alone in this feeling, but I have had it a long time.  Maybe this is what heaven will be like for me--I doubt it--but isn't heaven unique to each of us in some way?  I would wager that this is the case.

Harry Holiday art.  I really like it.

Shauna, Paul, and Joaquin Mayer

This is the Mayer Family blog. This is our attempt to keep a record for ourselves of the happenings of our family. It is also an attempt to make it easier for our family and friends to see pictures and get updates.
